The flag was adopted on 23rd of May in 1995. It shows three horizontal stripes in light blue, white and blue, but the white stripe is slightly wider and in its middle appeares in red a Kumalan, the traditional sun symbol of the evenks. The colours represent the Polar Day and the Polar Night in Northern Siberia. It is also possible that the flag was originally adopted in a side ratio of 2:3.
