Meaning/Origin of the Coat of Arms

The People's State of Reuss did probably not use a coat of arms that showed the old heraldry of the House of Reuss. This did not continue the tradition of the coats of arms of the two parts of the state from which it emerged (Reuss Senior Line and Reuss Junior Line). Instead, an emblem showing a pair of scales, the symbol of law and justice, supplemented by the letter "R", the first letter of the country's name, has been preserved.
